More progress

[Our web guy apologizes profusely for the delay in posting this update. The following took place on 8/2.]

Saturday was a big day!  Luke and others worked hard all week, so that we would be ready to set the trusses on Saturday.   Luke's work loaned us a crane for the day FREE OF CHARGE, so we had to get it done.  And, by God's grace (and a LOT of sweat!), we did!  A few still need to be permanantly placed, but they are all up on top.  The goal this week is to get them all attached, the gutter boards built, the plywood up and tie up a few loose ends and hopefully roof next weekend.  Every week it is so exciting to see it come together.

There was a little prep work before the trusses were able to go up.

For instance, Abram had to finish building the gables!

It was an exciting moment when the truck arrived.

A few instructions...

and the heavy lifting got underway.

Aaron, Andy, Luke & Tim were up in the rafters for hours upon end!

Alex & Scott were hustling down below.

Our architect, David is multi-talented!

Darren was a friend of a friend who showed up on a moments notice to run the crane the 2nd half of the day.

By 6pm, it looked like a different house!

Everyone was so amazing and worked tirelessly with no pay...no earthly reward.  It's a beautiful thing!!  We could still use more workers, so if you know anyone willing and able, please send them our way.  Also, financially, we're now about $53,000 from our goal, so if you know anyone willing to contribute financially, please contact us.  As always, thanks for your support!  To God be the glory - GREAT things He has done!!

Moving right along...

A lot has happened in the past 5 weeks. Sorry, we haven't been able to update in a while because our computer died. We're back on track now & thankfully, the house is progressing!! Our friend Matt worked endlessly backfilling and grading with his backhoe. It was so exciting the first time we got to walk up & into the house, instead of jumping over a huge ditch surrounding the foundation.

Then, on Chloe's 9th bday (7-1), they set the steel beams.

It took a few work days to get the joists in & the sub-floor layed.

Being able to walk over the basement is so fun!

Then, it FINALLY came time to begin framing!!!

This Saturday, the plan is to finish up the exterior walls and begin the interior.  Next week, we hope to do the trusses. And then comes sheeting the roof, installing the shingles, etc. Lots of fun, sweaty work for August. As you can see from the pictures, we have had a ton of help and are so grateful for each & every person who has given of their time! It is so beautiful to see God working all things together for good. Thanks for taking the time to view our journey! Thanks also for your prayers & support.
