| Flying along...at the speed of a turtle! |
Last week, Luke had some help (thanks, Aaron & Jeff!) and just last night finally finished sealing the foundation and the exterior drain tile. The sealing was a messy, messy job and Luke and Jeff stayed until after dark last night, so they could get it completely finished & not have to get covered in tar again! The plan for the rest of the week is to install sills, steel and being the subfloor. Late next week is the goal to begin putting walls up. And then, I think it will begin to look like a house, instead of a hole in the ground with walls.
FINANCIAL UPDATE: We are so grateful to have received $150.00 so far in donations, but are feeling the weight of the remaining $59,850.00. If you are able give financially, now would be a great time! Just email or call us & we will let you know how to. I know that there are a lot of good charities and places to give your money, but we humbly ask that you consider donating to our home. One of the 3 people who have donated financially at this point is a college student and I know we all remember having no money in college. I would like to challenge you to at least bring this before the Lord. Pray and ask Him if He has provided some money for you to sow into Selah's life and our lives. We can honestly say at this point, that we have no idea how God will provide the remaining finances that we need, but are trusting Him that He will. We are challenged not to trust in "chariots & horses," not to look to people... but to trust God. We have felt from the beginning that God was going to build this home for His glory and that He would use His body to do so. If you can, we are asking you to be a part of that. We're believing that God will motivate those He has chosen to be a part. Know that you are helping to provide an amazing blessing of a life with much fewer limitations for Selah in her home. Thank you!

| Here comes the sun... |
It turns out that it's actually easier to build a house - especially digging & pouring a concrete foundation & such - when it's not raining cats & dogs 24/7 for weeks upon end! Go figure!
I think the most exciting for Chloe and Abram - the port-a-potty was delivered! They also enjoyed playing on the rock pile and in the dug out basement. Turns out a job site can be lots of fun!
Roger's gang got the excavating complete in the middle of the month. The concrete folks laid all the footing and were ready to pour when we found out that half of our basement was filled with "plastic" soil. So - they had to excavate 3 more feet deep and cover it all with gravel. More money & more time... the mantra of home building! In between all the rain, they got that complete (see Luke making "gravel angels").
If the weather holds, the plan is to re-set the footings and (begin to) pour concrete tomorrow. I think that takes a week or so and then the fun really starts! Framing and things that make it look like a house will eventually to there! Thanks so much to all of you who have passed this website on and are praying for our family. God's grace has been so evident and He is answering your (and our) prayers. Enjoy the sun today!!

| This land is our land...(sing along now) |
|
 |
It's ours!!! We own our lot... well, the bank owns the lot and the bank owns us... same thing, right? It's just under 1/2 acre and just right for us! The lot itself has been staked out (you can see the stakes on the far left & far right of the pics) and on Wed 4-23, the house is going to be staked out. Then, on Monday 4-28, excavation is supposed to start and Wednesday 4-30 the foundation! I'm sure I'll post plenty of pics when each of those things happen! This is starting to be a little exciting!
